Worst Night Ever.

So. Sunday evening, I'm talking on the phone to my friend Sydni, and Makayla is toddling around. She falls, onto a garbage bag, and starts to cry. I get off the phone with Sydni, and Makayla is starting to scream/cry even louder. Tanner picks her up, and blood is gushing EVERYWHERE. She had fallen onto an aluminum can lid, and sliced in between her big toe, and part way down her foot. I rush her to InstaCare, and about 2 hours later, with 10 stitches, we finally got her foot to stop bleeding. Honestly, it was the 2nd worst experience of my entire life. Makayla had to be completely strapped down, and could only move her hands. She kept trying to reach for me, but there was nothing i could do but hold her hand...she screamed the whole time, but only because she was being restrained..She seems to be doing okay, she is walking around, and doesn't seem to be bothered by it. We had to change the bandage today, and she screamed...its going to be a long 8 days before she gets them out..but at the same time, I am blessed and so thankful that it wasn't any worse than stitches, and her foot is the best place to be hurt. It sounds weird, but if it had been on her arm, or anywhere else, there is no way she would leave the bandage alone.

Cookies

My FAVORITE Christmas Tradition is Cookie night. Every year (for 21 years!!) we get together with the Searle's, have dinner (always soup) and frost cookies. It takes a good two hours to frost all our cookies, plus an hour to eat/get everything set out to be ready to frost. When the tradition first started, it was just my Mom and Dad, and Kevin and Del. They would get together, make the dough, cut out all the cookies, bake and frost the cookies. But it was also only like a batch of cookies. Now, each family brings their own cookies. We made 5 batches of cookies this year. We frosted over 180 cookies. Well it would have been more, had we not eaten so much cookie dough!! And there were some cookies that broke, or just didn't turn out.

Must Be Santa

Makayla and I ventured to Salt Lake with Mikey earlier this month, to his family Christmas party. Makayla had just gotten hr tubes in, so she was a little on edge, and it made for a rough night. But overall, we had a good time. His family always has Santa come and visit all the kids, and the fun part is that each parent brings a gift for their child, for Santa to give to them. That way, each child is given something they wont hate. Which is brilliant. Because I can remember playing a white elephant game at the Searle Christmas party, and almost always, someone was crying because they got a bad/dumb gift. So when it was Makayla's turn to sit on Santa's lap, I was kinda freaking out, assuming she would freak out and cry. She was the ONLY kid under the age of like 8 who didn't cry. It was so cute, she loved Santa!

Surgery

Makayla FINALLY got tubes put into her ears. Hopefully it will stop the infections, and she wont have anymore issues until her ears are fully developed. Her surgery was Friday, and we had to report to Makay-Dee hospital at 7:15 am. Which means I was up at 6 so we could leave by 6:30. I haven't been up that early since middle school. I am not a morning person. But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. When we got to the hospital, we had to check in, and then wait to be called back. My mom got to the hospital right as we were being called back. We went into a room, to get Makayla in her gown, and to talk to the Dr and the Anesthesiologist. The surgery would be quick, and she would only have a little bit of discomfort. Then the Anesthesiologist (who was an old man!) took Makayla back to the OR. Kill me. She does not like men, or being taken away, especially by strangers!! We then had to wait in the waiting room until she was out of surgery, and awake. A nurse came out after about 10 min. The surgery was successful, and Makayla was awake. We went and talked to the Dr, and he explained what he did, and what I needed to do to take care of her ears. She has drops that go in the ears three times a day, for three days. Then we finally got to see Makayla. A nurse brought her to us in a recovery room, and She was screaming. We finally got her to settle down, but every time a nurse would come in to check on her, she would start screaming again, and cling to grandma. She is definitely traumatized, and thinks that everyone is going to take her away. Once we got food in her body, (she hadn't eaten or had anythink to drink since 8 pm the night before, and it was about 9:45 at this point) She was just fine and ready to go home. We headed back to my apartment, and decided to head to logan a day early, just incase I needed help with Makayla. By the end of the day, it didnt even seem like she had gone through surgery. I love my little girl more than anything, and couldn't be more happy that she is okay.

JoAnn Fabric and Craft

The service at JoAnn's is HORRIBLY slow, there is always only one cash register open, fabric always gets cut wrong. So I hardly every go there to get fabric. BUT. They have great prices and a great selection. So for black Friday, all their flannel was $1.29 a yard, and their blizzard fleece was $2.99 a yard. Which is a KILLER deal for both. So after we got home from black Friday shopping, my Mom and Aunt Sonja went back into town with Taylor and Tanner, and I decided to go to JoAnn's with Makayla, to get fabric for a Christmas blanket. We got there at 10. It was a MAD house. I got my number, which was C37. They had just started B1. I had to wait 136 people before it was my turn to get my fabric cut. I found the cutest fabric, and decided to make Makayla two blankets, a fleece pillow, and a fleece blanket for myself. I had 7 bolts of fabric in my cart. Most people had more than 15 bolts. One lady only goes to JoAnn's only on black Friday/Saturday. She allows herself $2000, and gets fabric for the whole year. She checked out, and had spend about $1200, and saved over $2500. Because normally, Blizzard Flannel is $10 a yard, and the Flannel is $7 a yard. [[which is why it took 4 hours, everyone was getting hundreds of dollars worth of fabric]] Anyways, my number, was called at about 1:50. Then I had to wait in line to check out, and got out of there at about 2:15. 4 HOURS it took me to get my fabric. It was so worth it tho! I spent $19 on fabric, and that includes stuffing for Makayla's pillow! I saved almost $70!!! HAPPINESS!!!!!

Black Friday

Ohhh boy. Black Friday was a blast and I scored. My shopping started at midnight, at Walmart. I was after a few things, but mostly, this pink Zhu Zhu pet, that was on sale for $4. They are usually $7 or $8, and I wasn't about to pay full price for a fake hamster. Well Walmart being Walmart, they only had about 30 in stock. With about 50 crazy mothers circling, trying to get close enough to get one. At Midnight, the craze started. I was pushing my way in, and I elbowed this lady in the head...ha ha but I got what I wanted!
I also REALLY wanted to get her this Sit-to-Stand Giraffe, on sale for $15. But there was SOOO many people around this toy, and of course, they didn't have a good stock. BUT as I was leaving the toys to go find my mom, I passed this lady who had about 5 in her cart. So when she wasn't looking...I took one. You snooze you loose on Black Friday.

We headed back home, to get a few hours sleep before getting up at 4 am to head out to Shopko. I didn't need anything there, and cant say what we got, but my Mom and Aunt Sonja most definitely got what they wanted! We then ventured over to Smith's Marketplace, and I got Makayla some socks, her Christmas pajama's, and this awesome bath toy at 25% off!

We also stopped at Seagull Book, and I got Makayla's Christmas Book. Its Up on the Housetop, and it plays the music so you can sing to it! I also got her a Christmas counting book, 3 books about the Prophets, and 3 books about counting, numbers, and the ABC's. All for at $12! YAY!
