Happiness!

On Sunday, Makayla and I went to Bear Lake with Mikey and his family. I was a little nervous about having Makayla around sand, but we were in the water for most of the time so sand wasn't an issue!! She loves swimming, but her pool always has warm water in it, so I wasn't sure how she would do in the Lake. But she LOVED it!!

No Doubt About It:

Last night, was a LONG night. Makayla is very good about going to bed, and sleeping through the night. But these past few night, she has screamed herself to sleep...I tried EVERYTHING. Rocking her in the rocker until she was a sleep would work until I would lay her down in her crib and she would scream. I would pick her up and cuddle, go to lay her back down, and again I would get screams. Last night was horrible. It took an hour and a half to get her to sleep. She finally fell asleep at 10:30, but on her tummy. She hates being on her tummy, and she has never fallen asleep on it. So of course I was worried. At 1 am, she woke up, and would not go back to sleep. So i decided to take her to the ER, to make sure it wasn't her ears again. We got to the hospital, and luckily no one was waiting, so we went right back. She had to have a rectal temperature, (which was way sad, even though she didn't seem to notice what was happening to her!) the doctor came in, and she is PERFECTLY FINE. I guess that's great, but I know something is upsetting her. She has been fussy lately, and that is just not her. I'm hoping it is just her teeth coming in, and not the beginning of her being sick :( So she gets Tylenol before bed to help her sleep. Anyways, the whole time at the hospital, she was wide awake, and all smiles. Not cool when I'm trying to tell the doctors whats wrong. We got home at 3:o0, and she didn't go to bed until 4:30! UGH it was horrible! I hadn't been to bed, but I didn't want her to scream herself to sleep again, so I waited until she was ready again for bed. Then this morning at 8 am, she was wide awake and ready to be up. But as long and stressful as my night was, I would do it every night if i had to, just to make sure she is okay.

Summer Swimmin'

I bought Makayla a $5 pool from Walmart. It is 3 feet wide and 6 inches deep. So PERFECT for her. We have it set up next to the "big" pool, and she L-O-V-E-S it. She will splash and play probably for hours if I would let her. Usually Taylor and Tanner will be out with us, playing in the big pool, and they will bring her in with them. She thinks that is just so fun, and they can get her laughing in no time. (Tanner especially, he just talks to her and she laughs.) She has 5 swimming suits for the summer...One from a friend of mine, one from Target, and three from The Children's Place. Before you think I'm crazy, you have to know why she has 5. I bought the one from Target in February, when i bought her all her summer stuff with my tax return. When we were in St. George, my mom bought her one, because the one from my friend was still too big. But then in May, I was at The Children's Place, and their swim suits were on sale for $5...you can't beat that price! So i got her 2 suits, one in 12 month, and the other in 24 month. And she will probably wear both all summer...I love havin a girl :)

Tags

No matter what toy Makayla has in her hand, she ALWAYS manages to find the tag. For some reason, she is usually more entertained by the tag than anything else. Like tonight for example; we were sitting on the couch, and on the other end was her diaper bag. She started reaching that way, and I assumed she wanted a toy. So I held her towards the diaper bag, but instead, she grabbed the tag on a blanket. Whatever floats her boat and makes her happy, I'm not going to argue. It's just so weird to me.

The hat is was cracks me up the most. Because the tag is on the INSIDE of the hat. Yet, without fail, she always finds it!

6 Months

I don't update my blog as much as I should. But at least I have one! So this is (another) catch up post. When I took Makayla in for her 6 month check up/immunization appointment, this is what her growth chart told us:

Length: 27.25 inches (94th percentile..)

Weight: 19.8 pounds (98th percentile..)

Head Circumference: 18 inches (99th percentile..)

Dang it..ok so my baby girl is huge. BUT Dr. Clarke said it was nothing to worry about because everything is close in percentile, and that makes her proportionate. Each time you visit the doctor, they give you a print out of her growth chart. At the bottom of the chart, it tells you what her weight, lenght and head circumference was at each visit. Here is how her weight gaining has gone:

11-13-09: 7.12 lbs

12-1-09: 8.88 lbs
1-11-10: 12.63 lbs

1-24-10: 13.14 lbs

1-30-10: 14.13 lbs

3-15-10: 16.81 lbs

4-12-10: 18.0 lbs

5-02-10: 19.13 lbs

5-12-10: 19.81 lbs

Also at the bottom of her growth chart, it gives the averages for her age.

Average Weight for Age: 15.5 Lbs

Average Height for Age: 25.7 In.

Ideal Weight for her Length (27.5 in.): 18.4 Lbs.

She weights almost 5 more pounds than she should. 5 pounds is a lot when your caring an infant carseat..Ugh. Oh well, not a thing I can do about. Makayla LOVES her rice cereal and her fruits and veggies, and lucky for me, is a pretty clean eater. Except for when she decides she wants to spit, and I end up with sicko green beans on my face.

My mom loves to go to garage sales on Saturdays. Most times she comes home with something for Makayla. Like this super awesome bouncer, that is now Makayla's FAVORITE thing to do. She will bounce and bounce, sometimes for hours. Its great! (Except when we are watching Lost, and she is being too loud..but hey, better than her crying!)

Makayla also loves watching "Little Einstein's" and she will just lay on the floor and be content while I either get ready for the day, start laundry or pick up. It's pretty dang cute.

Taylor has made Makayla quite a few things since she was born. This tutu is one of my favorites tho!

Lindsey did a summer photoshoot with Makayla, and I absolutely LOVE how they turned out! Makayla has a lot of pictures, but so far, these are my favorite!! Ah my little girl is pretty cute! (if I don't say so myself!) I have a TON more pictures that I need to put up, but that will be for tomorrow...hopefully...
