Tummy Ache...x1000

Tummy Ache...Part 1

Tuesday, Makayla and I went back to Layton for a few days. I wasn't feeling too good, but it was nothing serious. Wednesday night I went to bed at about 10:30, and had the worst stomach pains. EVER. My whole stomach was killing me, and I could not sleep. Every time I sat up or stood up, I would get nauseous and throw up. I tried taking a bath to see if that would help, and it didn't. The pain was so bad, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get up with Makayla. I called my mom at 5:30 to tell her about my awful night, and she offered to come to Layton to help get me to Logan, so I could see a Doctor. But I needed my car in Logan as well, so she brought Matt with her, so he could dive my car home. Makayla woke up at about 9:15, just as my Mom was leaving Logan. I got her out of bed, and laid on her floor for an hour, until my Mom came. We got to Logan at about 1:45, and picked Taylor up from school so she could watch Makayla while my Mom took me to InstaCare. We got to InstaCare at about 2:15. I was running a fever of 103.5, and seriously felt like I was going to die. The pain wasn't as bad as it had been Wed. night, but it was still horrible. One hour later, the Doctor FINALLY came in. They had taken a urine sample, and something was in it that is an indication of Appendicitis. He then proceeded to press on my stomach, and it about killed me/made me want to punch him in the face. He sent us to the ER, so i could get an IV in, and get a CT scan. Doug came after the CT scan to give me a blessing, and shortly after that, Ann came to bring my Mom dinner. It was about 7 when I went into surgery. I remember being wheeled down the halls, but nothing after that. When I woke up (it was about the only sleep I had gotten in 20 hours), I asked the nurse what time it was, and it was 8:30. By 9:15, I was in my room for the night. I was fully awake by the time we reached my room. Taylor was in there, and I asked where Makayla was. Taylor responded with, Oh she's with mom and Tanner. I don't think much about it, until about 15 minutes later, when they hadn't come back. So I asked her where they were again. She goes, don't freak out, Makayla is fine.....but mom is downstairs in the ER with her....

Choked...Part 2

While I was at the Hospital with my Mom, Taylor and Tanner were home with Makayla and Matt was at work. Makayla was munching on some puffs, and starts choking. Taylor digs around in her mouth to see if anything is down there. She doesn't get anything out, and Makayla is still choking. Tanner called our Bishop (who lives right next door), who came right over. They tried calling Dr. Stevens, who lives in our ward. He didn't answer, but they went to his house to see if he was home. He was, and said that they should go the ER right away. So the Bishop takes them to the hospital. On their way over, He called my Mom to tell her what had happened, and that they would be at the ER shortly. Now my mom had been waiting for me to get out of surgery, but had to go downstairs to take care of Makayla. So she sent Taylor up to be there when I was brought in. She was a little hesitant at first, because if I saw Taylor, I would ask about Makayla. And Taylor was like, Nah, she'll be too out of it to even know whats going on. But, I was awake when I got to my room. Mikey came to see me at about 9:30, and he got there right before Makayla's surgeon came into talk to me about what was going on with her, and what needed to happen. Mikey had to sign the realise forms, because I had just woken up from being sedated. Mikey and Taylor went down with the Dr, so he could see her before he went to work. When the Doctor came back to talk to us after her surgery, he had the airsoft BB that had been lodged in part of her lung. Mikey was able to see her after the surgery, when she was out of recovery. We were both in Pediatrics, so it was nice that Mikey and my Mom could be back and forth without too much distance to go.

Together Again...Part 3

Mikey went to work at about 10:45, right after Makayla was brought out of recovery, and into her room. I FINALLY got to see her at about 1 am, when I was able to get unhooked from everything, so I could use the bathroom. I went into her room, and she reached for me, and it about made me cry...to see her hooked up to all the machines, and having an IV...it was awful...But she was okay, and she was going to be fine. My mom finally got her to sleep, and I felt okay going to sleep, knowing she was in good hands [literally!]. Mikey came to check on us at his 3:30 "lunch" break, and Makayla was up getting her temperature taken, so he was able to see her again. I went back to bed around 4, and was up for the day at 7. My Mom brought Makayla into see me, and we just sat and talked until about 7:15 when Mikey came back [he gets off work at 7]. My mom left, to go to her school and set up a sub for the day, and to run home to change. Makayla was so tired that she fell asleep on my bed, and that was one of the cutest things ever. She was holding my finger, and wouldn't let go. At about 9, her nurse came in to let me know that Makayla had been discharged, and was okay to head home whenever, but they were okay to help me with her if needed, since my mom still wasn't back. Shortly after that, my surgeon came in to check on me, and he said I was doing great, and could go home as well. We left the hospital at about 10:30, and I'm so glad I didn't have to be there much longer. Being hooked up to all the machines and my IV was super annoying, and I hated not being able to take care of Makayla. I do not feel like I've had surgery. My stomach only hurts if I cough, and other than that I am fine. I think its because I've had a baby, and no pain will ever compare to that. Plus, the stomach pain I had Wednesday night, was 10x worse than what my stomach felt like after surgery.

  1. What a crazy thing to happen! On the other hand, now that you lived through it all it's quite an exciting story to tell everyone! I am glad you feel better, just don’t over do it. Take it real easy for a while... Your poor mom didn’t she just go through this with your brother?!? and I know Taylor had hers out too right?!? I am so glad Makayla is safe, sounds like she has smart sitters to get her help so fast!

  3. She did just do this before Thanksgiving with Tanner! And Taylor got hers out when she was in 5th grade. Taylor and Tanner are pretty tramatized from everything that happened...after Makayla had to get stitches in her foot, we talked about what they should do if something were to happen and they were home alone and couldn't get ahold of me or my mom. They followed the plan, and did a good job of making sure she was okay.

  4. Phew, what a relief! I'm so sorry you all had just a tramatic experience. I hope you both heal up and get some rest, along with Carol, T&T! We're thinking of you.
